As one of the highest paid actress in the world and half of power couple Brangelina, with partner Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie is always on the fashion radar. Although her style has evolved over the years, certain elements of her personal look have remained consistent.
1. Neutral Tones
Typically, Angelina is photographed wearing black. Whether it is a formal event or a casual day out with the kids, it is her go-to color. Although her appearance has become more mainstream than gothic, she still retains that touch of rebellion. When she does forgo black, she chooses other neutral shades like white, gray, nude or flesh tones.
2. Rare Color Sightings
When she does wear color, it is bright and bold, like the gorgeous yellow dress she wore to the 2007 Cannes Film Festival or the red, asymmetrical neckline dress that she wore most recently to Brad Pitt’s latest film screening. When pregnant in 2008, Angelina wore her signature full-length gown with spagetti straps, empire waist and a v-neckline, but it was a pea green color.
3. Solids, Clean Lines and Minimal Detail
Rarely is Angelina seen wearing a print of any kind. Even though she wears clothes with clean lines and minimal details, the outcome is never boring. Since she is so tall and curvy, with very strong facial features, she looks stunning in basic, simple pieces, without a lot of fussy extras.
Whether it is pants, a skirt or a dress, Angelina loves to wear leather. There are numerous photographs of Angie wearing super-tight leather pants with a midriff bearing t-shirt that shows off her stomach tattoo. She doesn’t limit the leather to casual outfits and has worn leather dresses to several formal events.
5. Knee-Length Skirts
In spite of her endlessly long legs, Angelina tends to avoid mini-skirts, and instead, opts for the knee-length version. When worn with tasteful pumps and a loose hairstyle, she strikes a refined, respectable air. Especially if the fabric is something other than leather like a silk, sateen, cashmere or jersey material.
6. Long Dresses
Between Brad’s movie premiers and her own, Angelina often needs to wear a formal gown. She elects to don full-length gowns that brush the red carpet. Rather than a sexy slit, the dress covers her legs in a loose and airy fit.
7. Asymmetrical, Strapless and V-necklines
When wearing those black-tie gowns, the neckline may be open in an interesting asymmetrical outline, a strapless form or a plunging v-neck with thin straps. Although the bodice of the dress hugs her curves, it never looks vulgar or too showy. Angelina also likes to carry a matching shawl or wrap on cooler nights.
8. Billowing Tops
For a more covered-up neckline, Angelina prefers tops and dresses with a blouson effect and flowing, elbow-length sleeves. They give her a demure, old-hollywood elegance.
Angie also likes to wear pant suits, sometimes without a shirt underneath, such as the white tuxedo suit she wore for the 2001 Oscar ceremony. When she does wear a shirt, it is a casual t-shirt or button-down blouse.
10. minimal jewelry
Usually, Angelina will wear one piece of jewelry, such as drop earrings or a diamond necklace. Instead of pilling on the accessories, she keeps it simple. Many times, she forgoes jewelry completely and opts for simple light makeup and nail polish look.
In spite of her obvious sex-appeal, Angelina Jolie is sensual without being vulgar. She maintains a natural look, like she isn’t trying to hard. Whether it is a sophisticated ball gown or figure-hugging leather pants, Angelina Jolie never strays too far from her personal fashion style.
